Getting a Windows version.

I am a noob!
I already looked at some of the other questions for an answer.
I loaded the IOS version on my phone. I made a long list of web sites that I need to bring into the program. But I can't easily do this with my phone on some sites. When I started doing this on my laptop I do not have the cut & paste feature from phone to laptop.
I followed the link to Desktop. It took me to the Windows store with apps that had to do with "jar". I am not used to going to an app store for desktop programs, so I was a bit shocked. I went to the search bar and typed in Master Password. It came up with 1 choice that did not look anything that I was familiar with on my phone or the web portal from the web site. The developer name also looked different. Something like Cake...
I am barely treading water here so I do not want to download something that is not what I need or want.
Also do I pay for it for @ the Microsoft store but it was free on the Apple store?
Here is the link:

The official Master Password application is not on the Microsoft store. The app you linked is a third-party app, I cannot make any statements about it.

The JAR file you downloaded will run if you double-click it, but you need to install Java first, since it looks like Microsoft doesn't ship Java with their OS anymore out of the box.

You can get Java from here:

    Wow a lighting fast response!
I down loaded Java and after the computer rebooted there was an icon on the desk top. Score I thought. I opened the file and it is so small I can hardly read it.
On the left side there are 2 choices:
1, Add new user to Master Password.
    This opens a dialog box:
When I enter my name I used on my phone nothing happens.
2, Import a user..... I did not save a file so I do not think that this is it.
    I am lost.

I am stalled here. What do I do to get the desktop version to function. I feel that I am close.

Can you share what system you're running? What windows version, what kind of computer (processor), etc?

Thanks, this is great. How comfortable are you with using cmd.exe?

I had no idea what that was. I did a little reading. It looks like the modern version of the DOS prompt.
I am not a programmer but I have used it before to ping up addresses and such.
If I have good directions I can follow them.
    My computer knowledge is limited.

I hate to be a PIA...
I went to that link and I clicked on it. It opened up and it does the same as before...
I have this small screen and when I enter my name nothing happens.
Once this works I am glad to throw you some money.

    Hey L3,

If you're up for it, give this a try:
    1. Open cmd.exe
    2. If your JAR file is still in Downloads, type: cd Downloads
    3. Then type java -jar masterpassword-gui-2..7.4.jar

Reproduce the problem, then copy-paste me everything you see in the black screen.

I was not sure when I was supposed to hit enter or where to leave spaces so I tried it in different combinations:
    Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.17134.191]
    (c) 2018 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
    C:\Users\Doug>cd Downloads java -jar masterpassword-gui-2..7.4.jar
The system cannot find the path specified.
    C:\Users\Doug>cd Dowloads
The system cannot find the path specified.
    C:\Users\Doug>cd Downloadsjava -jar masterpassword-gui-2..7.4.jar
The system cannot find the path specified.
I saw a typing mistake so I went bar in again.

Looks like we both mis-spelled the name of the JAR file. Care to try again? When you type java -jar, add in the name of the JAR file as you see it in your Downloads folder. masterpassword-gui-2.7.4.jar, exactly as-is. It should start the Master Password app for you. Then just try to create a user. Maximize the black console screen and send me another picture?

More trouble than needed. I just want something that works without all these workarounds and hitches. Amazing idea, not yet ready for prime time. I just can't afford to get locked out of my very important accounts with all these issues.
