Master Password Version 2.0.1
Hello. Is this one of your apps? It's not working correctly, not allowing me to change passwords. When I attempt to, the app crashes and I have to restart.

Hi Debbie,
Please update to the latest version from the App Store. That should solve your issues.
Thanks!

Hello Maarten,
I have done that, but the newer Master Password app isn’t opening. Is there a dmg file that needs to be installed? Is it the same app as the one I had, only newer? And, if so, how can I transfer data from the old one to the new one?
Thanks!
Debbie Jo

Hi Debbie,
Essentially, when you download the app from the App Store, it should replace your existing app and automatically load in your old app's data.
Could you provide some more details on the app not opening?
Do you have the 2.0.1 version of the app still? Does that one open?
What happens exactly?

Hi again,
Okay. I have figured out how to open it. It was "hiding in the top tool bar; I set up the older version to be visible in the dock at the side of the screen, and kept looking for it there.
Yes, I still have the older version, and it opens, but won’t let me change anything (it crashes when I try), and won’t let me unlock it (again, it crashes). What I was trying to do was change a password in one of the records. I would highlight it, and as soon as I began typing the new one (with the very first keystroke), it would crash.
I’m playing around with the new one, trying to understand how it works (it’s a little different than the one I was used to).

Hi Maarten,
I’m sorry to be so inept at this. So far, I have been able to open the new master password app, and set up two use sites for it, under my user name. I have no idea how to do anything beyond that. I don’t know how to, for instance, see the records that should be automatically loaded into the app from the earlier version. I did find an option for “Import user...”, and when I clicked on it, I’m advised to browse my files to “Locate the Master Password export file to import”. However, when I open up the earlier version, I see no way to create a file to export. So . . . any advice?
Thanks!
Debbie Jo

Hi Debbie,
Looking more closely at your crash report, I suspect you may actually be talking to the wrong person.
It looks like the application you're having issues with is called "Master Password" by Triangle LLC. That is not the application this forum is for. I understand it's misleading, since this forum is for the "Master Password" application made by "Maarten Billemont" (myself).
This forum is for application:
https://masterpassword.app
The application you appear to be using is for:
https://appadvice.com/app/master-password/840662185
https://apps.apple.com/jm/app/master-password/id840637883?mt=12&...
But the OS X version. I cannot find a homepage for this company/product, and it looks like they might have disappeared. I don't know anything about this other company/product and can't really help you with that.

Ahhh, that explains it then. Yes, it is confusing. Thank you for clearing things up. Looks like I’m going to have to copy down everything after all from the old app, something I was trying to avoid. Sigh. Oh well. It will just take a bit longer to get things into your app.
