same password
Hi,
I was asuming that with same user name and sign in password the
generated password for one site would be the same when using the
desctop version of ihpone app but that seems not to be?
Why?

Hi Ingo,
That should definitely be the case.
What I suspect is happening is that your sign-in name contains a diacritic, and this is triggering a bug in the iPhone or Mac OS X client you're using. The particular bug I'm referring to causes different non-standard passwords to be generated for people with diacritics in their name. The issue has been solved in the Java Desktop program but a solution is outstanding for the iPhone and Mac OS X programs (being prepared for release). The issue doesn't affect the quality of your passwords and you can keep using just the iPhone or Mac OS X clients for now. For compatibility with the Java Desktop clients you'll have to wait for an update to your iPhone or Mac OS X client which will then give you the opportunity to upgrade each individual site password to the correct password in your own time. Once upgraded, your site passwords will then match on all platforms and all Master Password applications.

Hi Maarten,
I think you got the issue. My last name is written Maaß which might cause the difference. I'll give it a try with a different username
And thanks for the great support
Ingo

Hey Ingo,
You're welcome.
Yes, ß would also trigger the issue. Specifically, the issue is caused by multi-byte UTF-8 characters. If you stick to basic latin letters, the passwords should be the same on all Master Password platforms and apps.

Hi Maarten,
just to let you know.
With different user name it's working perfectly!
Great tool - of cause I'll vote for it.
Kind regards,
Ingo
