Four years and this issue is still not solved. I believe this is intentional. You can guess as to the motivation for not solving this one, as it is rather fundamental. I've been using MPW since 2018 and have contributed financially to this project in the past.

Going forward, I'm considering PfP "Pain-free Passwords" version 3.1 or higher, which dispenses with concept of generation and falls back to a KeePass database (without the attack surface of using KeePass and its browser extensions). I'm facing the truth: state must be saved in a file that must be synced anyway, as this app and other generators have shown. That sync file might as well be a KeePass file with all of it's flexibility and none of the import/export problems that have plagued this family of apps. Syncing is automatic with syncthing. Bottom line, there are better solutions and free.
